Friday Fictioneers: Temporary Home

Please Note: 100% fiction!

“Thank you, Mrs. Peyton. I got it.” I say as I place the final stack of books on the table.

“Okay, dear, let me know if you need anything.” Mrs. Peyton smiles in a grandmotherly way.

“Thank you again for renting me the apartment.”

“No problem at all.”

The apartment isn’t much – a bed, small kitchen, a desk, and a window looking out to the neighbor’s roof – what more do I need? Sure, the bathroom is communal but that stuff doesn’t really matter to me, not when I’m out most of the time.

I slump onto the chair, home sweet temporary home.
