I’ve decided I’m not writing a flash fiction piece for this week’s Six Sentence Story, I guess I can’t think of many things humorous after taking a shower with mostly cold water because my aunt was in there for 30 minutes letting my precious hot water go down the drain.
Though the garden is being ultra productive at this time of the year, I’m not feeling that so-call “lift” in my mood that I’m searching for. It’s difficult to feel the joy of the harvest when you bring a bowl-full or a basket-full of delicious bounty and all you get in response are, “those are so tiny”, or “that’s not even enough to get between my teeth”, or “those leaves are past their prime, it’s the food of an animal,” and I’m talking about strawberries and kale leaves here.
“If you want it, don’t eat them, give them all to me,” I said but inside, I felt my heart sink like a ship’s anchor. How can someone just come right out and say such mean and horrible things to someone’s face, is it like their lifeforce to feed on someone else’s sadness? Anyway, I guess I’m just hoping by letting these thoughts flow, I can at least get a lift in my mood, and I think this did the job, thanks for choosing “lift” as this week’s word. 😊
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Lift”.

It’s frustrating when you put an effort in something you love and it’s not appreciated.

Good question and good way of expressing the problem of using one’s mouth carelessly:
“How can someone just come right out and say such mean and horrible things to someone’s face, is it like their lifeforce to feed on someone else’s sadness?”
It is best to reject those horrible things spoken over one and not repeat them to others or even to oneself in one’s own thoughts. As Proverbs 18:21 puts it: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

You shouldn’t offer it to them and enjoy the harvest yourself.

Looks like plenty and they look delicious. Let the complainers complain while you reap the benefits of your harvest. 🙂

And they’ve been getting better in the last few days. 🙂

Home grown produce may not look quite the same, but for heaven’s sake it tastes better so it’s worth accepting and enjoying!

I think Aunty needs to pack her bags and go, don’t you? Sheesh!

And she wants to do that, too, because my mom has been using her as a punching bag. Unfortunately, my mom wouldn’t let her for some reason.
