Sunday Poser #205 – Advantages of Blogging

What advantages you’ve found in blogging?

Do share how blogging has helped you? And how would you rate it as a part of your daily life?

My blog is a huge part of my life. I can’t imagine my life without the daily interaction. I would’ve probably gone crazy many moons ago.

Ironically, when I began writing and blogging over 11 years ago, I had no intention of interacting with anyone. I had no idea how a blog worked back then. It was as new to me as when I created my Facebook profile in 2009. I had no idea what it was supposed to do.

By the way, the only reason I created a Facebook profile was because I got an email from my now-former best friend. Before Facebook, I had a Myspace page, which I also did not know the purpose. Let’s just say I am quite muddle about the purpose of social media.

WordPress seems to be only place I’ve found other people with similar interests and someone who appreciates my stories. I had no luck in any other social media. That’s definitely been an advantage of blogging – a great place to share hobbies. In my real life, I haven’t found anyone who I can share my hobbies with nor have I found anyone to freely talk about my writing and photography and gardening. In my family, my fictional stories are often called “lies” because of the fact that they’re made-up.

By having something to write about everyday and have readers and commentators, it helps me stave off loneliness. Reading and replying to the comments made me feel like I’m having a conversation with someone and it’s a conversation that doesn’t end up in argument, which is a breath of fresh air compared to my real life, which typically conversations would end up one of us either ignoring the other person or shouting at one another.

Blogging has helped me tremendously, need I say more?

  1. Oh my dear friend. I’m glad that you’ve found a safe, happy haven in blogging. Over here, I’ve met people who take “my little hobby” as something serious and they encourage me without me having to remind them to read my latest post. Although I do have to say that when I stopped writing for the last 2 years due to various reasons, some people in my real life did reach out to me and ask me to start writing again. Now that I’m back, I’m reminded once again of how supportive, warm and encouraging the blogosphere is. Without my blog, I wouldn’t have come across people like you and that would have been a huge loss indeed. I’m glad that blogging keeps you happy and occupied. I really enjoy reading your thoughts. Much love ❣️ 🤗

    1. Wow, it’s great that you have people who appreciates your writing in your real life. I wish I have someone like that. No one would even read anything I write. It’s why I’m glad to have a community like this online.

  3. I relate with you on not having anyone who I can share my hobbies with or my love for writing, photography and music, in real life. WP really changed my life. I feel like my life would be too boring if I hadn’t started blogging. My online friends are a big part of my life now and I could never let go of it.
