Share Your World – Week of November 4, 2024

Do you like fireworks?

I like to look at fireworks, not so much when I have to listen to it while trying to sleep.

Do you think fireworks should only be used by professionals?

Yes! My uncle (dad’s brother) suffered burn injuries from setting off fireworks. It was a long time but the memory of his back on fire will probably remain seared in my memory for a long time. Besides, I think unless one is very confident on how to do something right, it’s best to leave it to the professionals.

Do you think today’s fireworks are value for money?

Every 4th of July when the annual city fireworks show starts and we hear it from my house, my mom would say, “well, the city is burning money.” Fireworks today are expensive, only to be gone in an instant. I most likely will never buy fireworks in my lifetime.

What is your favorite and least favorite firework?

I don’t have a favorite and least favorite firework. To me, fireworks look the same, just a matter of different colors.

  1. Thanks for joining in. We have had almost 2 hours of non stop fireworks around us. Maya is usually OK but tonight is a little unsettled because there are so many going on for so long and we are reassuring her at every bang and pop.

    1. Wow, what’s the occasion for the fireworks? The only time there’s fireworks around my parts is July, when there would be about 2 weeks where fireworks would go off an average of 4-5 hours a night.

      1. Ah, I listen to a podcast that talks about the significant events that happened each day in history. I just heard the episode about this today – November 5, 1605. Fascinating but horrible for Guy Fawkes.
