Continued from last week’s 6 sentences

The last thing the rookie remembered was opening the brown paper wrapped package and accidentally set off the detonation device, ka boom, he felt a jolt of energy sending him flying back against the wall before gravity took over and pressed him down on the floor like a criminal.

That was before everything went black, before he heard, “yo rookie,” echoed in his head, before he he somewhat felt the slap across his face but someone attempting to wake him, before he was carried out of the building on a stretcher, before he woke up in the hospital.

That was almost a week ago, how am I even alive, he thought as he squinted at the bright sunlight streaming in from the window before turning his attention to the IV in his arm and all the machines beeping around him. Everything hurts like hell, man, groaning, he pushed himself to sit up before the machines started to beep in a panic manner prompting the nurses to rush into the room.

“Sir, don’t try to move,” one of the nurse ordered while another one began examining him, shining a flashlight in his face, “sir, please follow the light,” before the third nurse scribbled away on the paper on the clipboard and concluded a moment later, “your vitals look good.”

His brow furrowed, “I just woke up from whoever knows how long, everywhere hurts, and you’re saying my vitals look good, is this even real, am I in hell?”

To be continued…
