Six Sentence Story: Rank

I work from home 4 days a week and with the blinds in my bedroom/office partially open to protect my sensitive skin from the UV rays of the sun, I can sometimes watch flocks of birds fly from one tree to the next, and watching them does sometimes crank up my imagination and makes me wonder what if I’m one of those birds.

“Don’t break RANK!” I’d imagine the head bird say, “Keep up!”

Flapping those wings must be great exercise, even though I’d imagine it must be something similar like us humans using our hands but contrary to birds, we, humans, don’t need to flap our hands constantly to prevent falling.

“Come on,” I’d imagine someone say to me, “didn’t you hear the captain? He said ‘Keep RANK!'”

I’d imagine I would be panting, out of breath, I think I would rather be human than a bird, even though being a bird would probably enable me to travel the world but I also imagine I would be constantly on the lookout for either prey, predator, or food, no thank you.
