“What are you drawing, Ada?” Ada’s sister, Betsy, asked.
Ada didn’t answer.
Born 5 years apart, the sisters couldn’t be more different. Betsy is social and outgoing while Ada has always hidden behind a sketchbook. “Take it easy on your sister,” her mother would often say, “she’s not like the rest of us.” It would take Betsy a few more years to understand what her mother meant by “not like the rest of us.”
Ada is on the autism spectrum.
One day, Ada left her sketchbook lying around on the floor. Curious, Betsy looked inside the sketchbook. “What in the world!”
