What do you see #278 – The Cave

“I found her!” Caleb shouted, “She’s over here!” Incredible, he thought as he peered down at his sister, Cassie’s face. She still looked the same as the day he was forced to abandon her a decade before. He, however, did not look the same. He’s a decade older with a full-grown beard from the years of obsessing over finding his sister.

A decade ago, when he was fifteen and Cassie seventeen, they would roam these woods almost everyday. “You two were born with the heart of explorers,” their mother would say.

One day, they discovered a cave. Inside, they discovered a gold ring on the finger of a skeleton. The skeleton was propped up against the cave wall, held hostage by vines. As Caleb moved to touch the ring, a vine came out of nowhere wrapped itself around his ankle. “Ow!”

Cassie tried to free her brother from the vines. “Run the moment you’re free,” she ordered. Suddenly, the vines let go of Caleb but attached itself to Cassie. “Run!”

It was like the cave had a brain because in that moment, the walls began to tremble and rocks began to fall from above. “Run Caleb, Run!” Those were the last words Caleb heard from her sister’s lips before he tumbled out of the cave.

“Let’s get your sister out of there, shall we?” Caleb’s Uncle Russell said as he entered the cave.
