Sunday Poser #226 – Life Changing Event

Can you describe an event that changed your life?

Was there any significant event that changed the trajectory of your life? Do you regret it or are you grateful for it?

I often feel like every decision we make in our daily life is a significant event. Like what would had happened if I chose to sleep in instead of working? That’s probably not life-changing since my work schedule is flexible, I’ll just need to work until a later hour or make up the time on another day to fulfill my 40-hours.

The most significant event that changed the trajectory of my life was probably the death of my father. It caused my mom to decide to leave China. She often said, “If your dad was here, we would’ve probably never come to America. I would’ve probably sent you abroad to school instead.”

My dad was a government employee and I’m talking about one of the higher ups, so we’ll most likely to be quite wealthy.

Am I grateful?

I wouldn’t say I’m grateful for my dad’s death. Of course, I want him here. I never got to know him because I was so young. However, I am grateful for how everything turned out because otherwise, I wouldn’t be here right now.

    1. I’m sorry for your loss, too. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s easier on a person when a person’s so young. I imagine if it’s harder for an older person to deal with loss than a younger person.
