#AtoZChallenge 2025 – Foshan, China

I have never been to Foshan until 2017 when I had to attend my cousin’s wedding. Looking at the map, I don’t even know where it was. Anyway, I visited this seemingly large city in 2017.

I was told my grandfather’s (mom’s dad) hometown was once separate from Foshan before it became Foshan to consolidate its population. It’s like my hometown is now consolidated into a small district in Zhongshan city.

Anyway, after a 90-minute car ride from Zhongshan, we arrived outside the Foshan temple, where we would be spending a majority of the day before heading to a relative’s house. To be honest, that was also the first time I knew of this cousin. So strange no one ever told me of these extended family members.

I didn’t take many pictures of the temple or the city since we were moving pretty quick and the sky was not looking lovely. Besides, it was so muggy that I just wanted to run inside to a place with the AC blasted. Unfortunately, there weren’t many of those places in China. Everyone was trying to be “eco-friendly.”

The temple grounds was actually pretty large with lots to see but to be honest, I wasn’t interested. My faith lies with God, not with a large copper statue of Buddha, no offense to any Buddhists out there.
