I had trouble deciding between Grand Canyon, Grand Escalante National Monument, and Glasgow. All great places but ultimately, I chose Grand Canyon for its beauty and all the wonderful memories I had there.

I entered the park on Christmas Eve, 2023 from the east. My first stop was Desert View. This picture was taken at one of the stops on the east side of the park before reaching the visitor center.

Honestly, I didn’t do much research about the park before I arrived nor did I know what to expect. All I knew was I was on this trip to have a solo adventure. I spent a total of 2 days at the park – half day on the east side of the park and the next day exploring south rim with accommodations in Flagstaff.

Between the 2 locations, I like the east better than the south. It’s because I could see the Colorado River in the east side of the park while all I could see in South Rim were the tops of the jagged canyons. Though that was a great view, I found the water add a little something to the landscape.
