Note: this post may be a little fragmented but then, it’s Monday.

So it’s been a rainy weekend. It poured like it never poured before yesterday, delivering a whopping 1-inch of rain. That might not seem like a lot to some of you but it’s a lot in my region. May I remind you I live in the second driest state in the US? There are 50 states and being number 48 for wettest is not good.

Correction: after doing some Googling, I found out I actually live in the 4th driest state in the US with number one going to New Mexico, followed by Arizona and Nevada.

Still, with only averaging about 15 inches of rain per year, one inch is a lot of rain. But did the overnight temperature really need to go down to the low 40’s? I spent the non-raining part of the day preparing for the cold – throwing a double-layer frost blanket over the peppers, put plastic domes over pumpkins and basil. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do much for the tomatoes except put an extra layer of mulch at the base. The tomatoes are attached to a string, so even if I could cover them with a frost blanket, it would’ve been one-sided.

I feel like they should be okay.

It’s the week of the road trip. My mom, aunt, and I are going to Cheyenne, Wyoming before heading up to Devils Tower National Monument.

If you ask me, I would tell you I would much rather go by myself because, then, at least I can listen to my music. There will be no music playing on this ride. It will be either my mom scolding her sister or my mom will be watching one of her daily YouTube videos with the volume turned up so loud that it drowns out everything.

I think she might be going deaf.

Last night, she had me check the weather for Cheyenne. I told her it will be nice with a little breeze. She asked about the wind speed. I said 15 but she heard 50 and note that I was speaking in Cantonese, not English, so she shouldn’t had been confused one for the other. 15 mile/hour wind isn’t strong, nothing like what we got last week. Still, she’s having second thoughts about heading to Cheyenne.

That wasn’t the only time. Sometimes, I do wonder whether she’s ignoring me or can’t hear me but she’s too stubborn to admit anything, so…

Really? Especially after she invited her other sister as well?

Honestly, I hope her other sister won’t come because then, they will talk about politics the entire trip and I don’t think I can spend 6-and-a-half hours listen to that. Also, why must she invite everyone? We only have one room with 2 beds. I already have to share a bed with my mom, which, if you ask me, I rather sleep on the floor than having to listen to my mom’s YouTube video all night long. I highly doubt her 2 grown sisters are willing to sleep in the same bed.
