Were you born at home, in a hospital, or somewhere else?
I was born in a hospital. In the last couple of days, my mom has been reflecting again on the year of my birth – 1991. “It was so hot,” she said because oil fields were burning in the middle east. She said I didn’t want to come out and in the end, she had to go under the knife to get me out. I can totally imagine her screaming in the days leading up to my birth, “Come on, out!”
How many siblings do you have or are you an only child?
I was, unfortunately, born in the country with an one-child policy. Just one, no more.
Have you ever owned a pet that has had a litter? (cats, dogs, guinea pigs, mice etc)
Thankfully, I have not. I imagine it would had been a disaster.
How many living generations are there in your family?
On the paternal side, just me and my dad’s siblings, I guess you can count it as 1.5?. On the maternal side, my mom’s dad is in China while my mom and her siblings are in the US, so 3 generations?

Thanks for joining in and sharing your world Yinglan. Do you have grandparents living? That would give you three generations.

I just have 2 aunts and 2 cousins on my dad’s side and 2 cousins, an uncle, and 2 aunts on my mom’s side. I have a lot of extended family in China but the relationships are too complicated to name. In English, they are just called aunts, uncles, and cousins, but in Chinese, it’s a lot more complex.
