Tantrum

It’s September, which means it’s time to renew the registration on not only my car but my mom’s. Each year, we would get an email specifying the things we must get done in order to get the sticker on the license plate and our registration paper. Thankfully, this year is just an emission test for both cars.

I usually will have this done during the first week of the month. I’ve never put it off until now. To be honest, there’s been quite a few things I’ve been putting off besides the emission test but as it’s about one week from the end of the month, it must be done.

On Saturday morning, my mom went and got hers done. It took less than 10 minutes since the shop is at the mouth of the neighborhood. When she returned, she handed me the result of her emission test and told me to help her pay for her registration renewal when I return. P.S. she’s paying for it but she wanted me to enter all the information for her.

“Why can’t you do it?” I asked.

“You will be doing it anyway, so why not do mine, too?” She replied and assumed I would be doing it on the computer.

“I’m not going to do it for you.” I said with defiance. I’ve been doing enough things for her over the years. On the last road trip, I saw just how dependent she was of me because as I was struggling to find the road back to the highway, she was chomping away on potato chips and throwing a tantrum instead of opening Google Maps to lead me back to the highway. So yes, she must renew her damn car registration herself.

Naturally, she threw a tantrum, to get me to give in. I heard some nasty comment about how she gave birth to me for the reason so I can do things for her and take care of her. Blah blah blah… After that, it was the silent treatment as she turned on her work computer and began the renewal process. The renewal process isn’t hard, I did it on my phone later that day, took about 5 minutes. All I had to do was access the site from the email I received, verify my information, and enter payment information.

It took her about 20 minutes to figure things out but yes, it got done. I feel like it could’ve gotten done a lot quicker if she just went and got it done.
