Teri cried, no, she downright bawled, “why do these things happen to me?” she asked her roommate as downed a large gulp of the beer her roommate bought.
“Now, that’s enough,” her roommate gently pried the beer from Teri’s hand but Teri hung tight to the bottle, “you are going to regret this in the morning.”
“No,” Teri snapped, hugging the bottle closer to her chest, holding it like a newborn, “leave me alone, I need this.” She literally stood frozen on that stage as she felt thousands of eyes staring at her, waiting for her to respond as her mind went blank. No words, no thoughts, not even a single emotion came, she might had just as well had been cast to stone by Medusa.
“Now, I’m sure it was probably a simple case of stage-fright,” her roommate tried to comfort her but it was no use, “it was your first time to do theater, was it not?” Teri nodded as her roommate walked around the kitchen counter, helped her off the stool, and walked Teri to her room, “I’m sure all you need is some good rest and by this time tomorrow, you will be all ready to perform again, this time would be flawless with no stage-fright.”
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Need”.

So it was stage fright. May the rest bring Teri recovery from it.

Well, that’s what her roommate thought, but is it though?

I hope she can recover well and look back on this incident with laughter someday.
