Happy Sunday! Ritva is hosting this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and I must say, she’s got me doing a deep dive into my photo archive with her topic of Street Details.

I am featuring some murals for my first two images because I feel like for some people, murals are simply a passing glance. I am somewhat the same way but I am trying to be mindful these days and by being mindful, I really notice quite a feel things I don’t normally see when I walk down the street.
These days, when I visit somewhere new alone, I like to park the car and explore the area by foot. I feel one can really see a lot when exploring by foot. I was doing that when I saw the first mural in Flagstaff, Arizona and the other one in Panguitch, Utah – a small town near Bryce Canyon.

I was looking through every folder from my travels when I came the photo of a dog waiting patiently outside of a store in Banff, Canada. This photo was from my trip in 2017. I am terrified of dogs because of a traumatic experience from when I was a child but I remember this dog. I remember him just sitting there as my aunt and I passed by. He didn’t bark nor did he tried to approach us. Good dog!

My final set of photos are from my 2017 trip to China. I was there for 4 months, I do not know why stayed for so long. I was there to experience the lunar new year. When I was a child there, Lunar new year was my favorite time of the year. I loved the festivities and the happy music, and of course, the red envelopes. After living in the US for so many years, I had completely forgotten what the festivities were like, such as red lanterns hanging everywhere and mandarin orange trees are brought outside to welcome good luck.
The other photo was taken in Hong Kong. I don’t really recall why I took the picture. The only thing I can recall is I took this photo from a double-decker bus. I don’t know what the man was doing but I can see a car is heading his way. Yikes!

Nice memories Yinglan!

So many memories photos can bring, dog waiting patiently – I liked it annd I used as a child be really scared of dogs, I was told I screamed even if they were on the other side of the street. Now I love dogs. The yellow toned mural is just lovely. Thanks for joining Yinglan

I agree that going by foot is the best way to get a sense of the city.

Loved the mural, Yinglan. A very patient dog – many people are afraid of dogs though. Often through accidents when they were children. Hope you will overcome that – they are lovely creatures!

Thank you. I have tried to overcome my fear of dogs and I’ve made breakthroughs with some dogs but for the most part, I’m still afraid at first contact.
