Can you remember your first wage packet? Was it cash, a check or paid directly into your bank account?

My first official unofficial paycheck was cash from when I worked a weekend at a packaging facility sticking velcro in phone brochures. I think I was 12 or 13? I can’t recall. I don’t know about you but as I age, my younger years seem to all blend together.

My first official paycheck, however, was a check and I earned it at age 21. These days, all my paychecks are all going into my account while I sleep.

Do you prefer to shop with cash or card?

When I was growing up, I was told newspapers and paper money are the dirtiest things in the world and that I must wash my hand after touching each. So I don’t read physical newspapers and rarely carry cash if I don’t need to. Thankfully, most places only take card these days. In fact, I felt very annoyed and disorientated when I visited Asian countries in recent years because there were still many places that over took cash.

Do you know the price of half a dozen eggs?

I know the price for a half dozen eggs is more expensive than a dozen and the price of a dozen eggs is more expensive than a dozen and a half eggs. I don’t know if I ever bought half-dozen eggs before, even during my 4-month visit in China, eggs were sold by 9.

These days, I typically buy cartons of 18 eggs or 24 eggs, since the more one buys, the lower the cost per egg. The other day, I paid almost 3 dollars for a carton of 18 eggs, it’s probably the lowest I’ve paid in a while.

Have you ever kept chickens?

No, and I don’t ever intend to. It’s too much work for me alone and plus a garden? No thanks.
