What are your ambitions for the coming year?
What are your ambitions for the coming year? Do you believe that making plans is different from making new year resolutions?
This year, especially right now, I cannot tell you how desperate I am for the new year to arrive. For some reason, I am very lacking in holiday spirits this year. In fact, the way my mom and aunt walking around the house humming Jingle Bells is nauseating to me. I also felt a lack of interest to see Christmas lights. Of course, I loved the decorations and the lights but I didn’t feel that special tinge of excitement and happiness I felt when I went to see Christmas lights in the past.
Every year, as the new year approaches, I will feel this sudden surge of hopefulness bubble inside me that makes me feel excited about the new opportunities, even though it’ll just be another day. I have ambitions but I don’t think my ambitions are for the new year but rather for the season.
For one, I will be starting seeds shortly after the new year. A lot of my winter garden had bolted due to the warm winter so I need to make some new transplants to replace those that have bolted. I will also need to replacing the trellises in the back garden because those trellises got blown out of shape by the wind.
As for my 2026 ambitions, I will try to keep it broad so I don’t put so much pressure on myself. I hope to try to write long-form posts and stories. I hope to bring something new to this blog and I hope to start on a memoir in 2026. Again, I don’t know whether I’ll achieve these goals but I sure love to.
