15 Minutes of Fame

When I was a newbie blogger almost 13 years ago, I read and followed a lot of bloggers that got their posts featured on Freshly Pressed. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a list of posts WP thinks it’s worth sharing. I felt those bloggers must write about something meaningful and special to be featured. Their posts inspired how I write my posts and what I write about, for a time at least. That was before I knew I can write whatever I want. It’s my blog, after all.

In my early years as a blogger, I dreamed about getting Freshly Pressed. I wrote long-forms, poetry, short stories, and life observations. Alas, it never happened, until I woke up yesterday and saw the email that this post got featured on Freshly Pressed. Long ago, before publishing over 5000 posts and having my stories featured in anthologies, I would’ve probably been jumping for joy like someone who’s just found out they won the lottery but when I got the email, I just smiled.

Of course, I was very happy my post got picked and my humbled little blog got discovered. Jumping for joy, I was not but getting the email certainly made my day and made me feel like I’ve done something right. Deep down, I felt like it’s merely this want-to-be writer’s 15 minutes of fame. It changes nothing. I will still record my thoughts, will still share my garden’s progress, let my untamed imagination unwind on my flash fictions, and of course, share my photos with some behind the scenes stories.

To those who found my blog through WP discover, I welcome you and hope you enjoy reading the plethora of posts my blog has to offer. I promise I will try not to bore you.

Happy New Year!
