#FFFC #355 – Petrification

Annie could feel her heart leaping out of her chest as she stood, frozen in place, as the crocodile eyed her hungrily from across the pond.

Move, damn it, move! The voice in her head screamed while every muscle in her body felt as though it’s turned to stone – locked and unmovable.

As the beast crept closer, a whimper escaped Annie’s lips as beads of sweat dripped down the side of her face. Of all the places you could’ve stopped, why did you stop here? Annie asked herself. Huh? Why? Didn’t you see the sign on the road and the warning, “Beware of crocodiles and alligators”?

The crocodile was now half-way across the pond and Annie was still locked in a state of petrification. I’m going to die. I’m going to die. Her brain screamed as the crocodile crept closer.

Just then, an ear-piercing scream escaped her lips as she hauled her body back to her car and peeled out of the parking lot.
