Ami stands back and admired her work. Can someone else do this better than me? She wondered. Maybe?
When the customer handed her the drawing of the cake he wanted, Ami had mentally cursed at the sign above her head, “We can design the cake however you like, just bring us a drawing or photo.”
Apologetically, he said, “Sorry, it’s for my daughter’s birthday. Kids these days, am I right?” He let out an awkward laugh while Ami stood there, humorless.
Spinning the cake around, Ami couldn’t help admire her handiwork. Not bad but his daughter better like this cake.

Did I miss something? What was the cake?

A few takeaways and my fav was the pressure a cake maker can feel when someone brings in a photo and they have to create rigidly – you captured that so well

If that guy’s daughter doesn’t like that cake, then I would love to have it. It’s my birthday today 🙂

You captured the character so well, proud of your work, but don’t want to be cocky, but c’mon!

Even though I’m not a cake decorator, I somehow knew that’s how she felt.
