Friday Fictioneers: The Cake

Ami stands back and admired her work. Can someone else do this better than me? She wondered. Maybe?

When the customer handed her the drawing of the cake he wanted, Ami had mentally cursed at the sign above her head, “We can design the cake however you like, just bring us a drawing or photo.”

Apologetically, he said, “Sorry, it’s for my daughter’s birthday. Kids these days, am I right?” He let out an awkward laugh while Ami stood there, humorless.

Spinning the cake around, Ami couldn’t help admire her handiwork. Not bad but his daughter better like this cake.
