Are you a dog or cat person, or do you prefer no pets or unable to have one for some reason.
I have a deep irrational fear of animals. I say “irrational” because the fear stem from a traumatic incident that happened when I was a child. The incident was so long that it no longer makes sense for me to have this fear, yet I cannot bring myself to even touch a dog or a cat.
When my mom made me pet-sit her friend’s daughter’s turtles, I couldn’t even touch them. I loved watching them but when it came to changing their water, I had to don on thick leather gloves before attempting to temporarily put them somewhere else.
Did you have a pet as a child?
Nope, I never had a pet as a child because one, the irrational fear mentioned above and two, I didn’t really have a proper childhood.
Have you ever ridden a horse?
Yes, it was almost the first thing I did after moving to the U.S. The day after I arrived in California, my step-dad and mom packed up the car and drove to Texas to celebrate Christmas with my step-dad’s family. During the visit, they decided to take me on a pony ride.
To be honest, I don’t remember much because I was so young but I do remember being strapped down to the pony to the point where it would be impossible for me to fall off. I didn’t go far on the pony. The guy just led the pony around a track and back. I hope to ride a real horse one day.
What was your favorite animal in either a zoo or circus?
I’ve never been to a circus and haven’t been to a zoo in five years. I don’t have a favorite animal. On my last visit, I thought the peacock looked majestic.
