What is your best talent/ gift? 

What is your greatest asset/ gift/ talent? And how have you used it to make your life better?

I don’t know whether all talents can be considered gifts. I view some talents to be a curse and even some gifts to be a curse, and by curse, I mean that it’s something that does not make one’s life better. Maybe that’s just my thing.

I am quite good at reading people. I don’t know how exactly I do it, there’s probably some behind-the-scene actions going on in my brain that perhaps, only trained professionals can explain. Though I have been wrong, I am usually spot on when it comes to telling whether an individual is a good person, a hard-working individual, etc. When I’m wrong about a person, I would feel like I had just encountered a plot twist in a novel.

When my next door neighbor moved in early last year, he volunteered to shovel the snow for us, even though it wasn’t necessary. I thought, “that’s nice. Maybe we’ll finally get a decent neighbor.” The house next to mine was sold to a rental agency back around 2018. Since then, I haven’t had a decent neighbor. I mean I have but those never stayed long.

Anyway, I didn’t get to meeting the guy and his family until later in the year. I got a read on him upon our first meeting and I thought I got it wrong, until this year.

What I got was he’s a blue collar worker and some sort of mechanic by the way he talked. What I thought I got wrong was judging on the way he dressed, he’s a sloppy guy. Then in the recent months, more and more cars began to pile onto his driveway, he neglected the yard, causing weeds to invade my yard. When I met him, he and his family were planting grass seeds, re-building the lawn and now, that same lawn is all weeds. I guess I should be pleased I didn’t get this wrong but it’s still a frustrating ordeal.
