Teri opened her eyes, the other end of the line was silent but she knew he was still on the line, based on the fact that she’s been handling phone calls for the last few months and she knew how the phone line should sound if she’s been hung up. She cleared her throat, “Sorry, whoever you are, what I did was strictly for curiosity, not for interest, but you have just confirmed my suspicion and,” clenching her teeth, she said, “and don’t call here again.”

He chuckled again as if what she had just said was a joke, “and what is your suspicion?”
