Friday Fictioneers: The End of a Journey

Jim plopped down on the chair, looking out to the water. He was exhausted but from what, he didn’t know. Suddenly, a white-bearded man sat down in the chair next to him. “Lovely view, isn’t it?” Jim commented.

“Perfect, no?” The man replied.

“Perfect?”

“Where do you think you are, Jim?” Jim frowned, how did he know my name? As if reading his thoughts, the man chuckled, “I know everybody’s name, Jim. I am God and you, my friend, are in heaven.”

“It’s cloudy in heaven?” God chuckled again, patted Jim’s hand before walking away. “Wait, I’m in heaven? I…” died?

Sidenote: my stepfather was named Jim. He passed away about 13 years ago. I miss him every day. This is a tribute to him.
