Sunday Poser #291 – Blogging Identity

How much of your real life do you write about on your blog?

Do you share details about your life and identity online or do you prefer to remain anonymous? Do you think it’s safe to share details online?

When I began to blog, I wanted to remain anonymous. I wanted to blog under an alias but I’ve never been very good at coming up with a creative name, so I ended up using my first name and crossing my fingers that no one steals my identity. Yes, it’s risky but I guess it’s a risk I’m willing to take when I want to be a part of a community of like-minded people.

I initially started the blog wanting to share my opinion on silly stuff like food and everyday observation on life and to write fiction. Believe it or not, my first-ever blog post was on bagel of all things. Gradually, this blog has become a place where I journal about my life, garden status, and emotions. So yes, I share a lot of my real life on here but I try not to let those post overwhelm the blog because I know not all of my readers want to read about the woes of my life. In an average week, I would say I try to keep it half and half – half on life and half on fiction.
