Updating about me page- its importance.
Do you think the “About me” page is important? Do you have one on your blog? And do you update it often?
The “About me” page is very important. It’s the first thing I look for whenever I visit a blogger’s page. It tells me who you are and whether I should subscribe to your blog. The “About me” page is also the spot where I get to use my mojo and get a read of the kind of person I’m reading. It’s not always accurate, especially if all I can see are words but it’s still quite helpful.
I have not one but two About pages on my blog – one about me and another one for the blog. I wrote my About me page in 2014. According to WP, there has been 24 revisions to the current About Me page, with the last one in December 2022. Looking back at the edits, it looks like I did a major overhaul of the page back in 2020 and then just updated a few details in 2022. I don’t update this page often unless I feel the need to add new life details or remove some out-of-date things. Overall, I think my current About me page is a general overview of who I am as a person.
I have an About page for the blog because I am the type of person who likes to know what I am in for when I commit to a blog. If you’ve followed me long enough, you’d know I write both fiction and non-fiction on this blog, so to first-time visitor, it can be confusing. So that page is there if you need to know what this blog is about.
I’m glad this question was posed because I would’ve never known one of the links doesn’t work on the About page and I have to go in to fix.
