How fussy are you about food?
Are you fussy about the food you eat or make at home? Or you’re easy going about whatever is cooked?
To tell you the truth, I can be very fussy about food and I can be the opposite.
I love to cook. I love to be experimental with my food, as long as I make sure that I don’t get myself sick. I love to make fusion foods – a mix of foods from different cultures and countries. The only ingredient you will never see in my cooking is anything to do with the allium family. Well, I don’t mind garlic as much as I mind onions. When my mom’s away on a long trip, I would get a head of garlic from the store to use in my cooking.
The unfortunate thing is when my mom’s at home. She forbids me to make anything elaborate like bake bread or those soft chewy cookies that melt in your mouth. She accuses me of making a mess in the kitchen but that’s what cooking is, isn’t it? If there’s no mess, is it really cooking?
When she’s at home, she would make all the meal and would accuse me of being heavily dependent on her to cook my meals. Her cousins and friends think I can’t take care of myself but, really, I’m probably the most independent one of all her friends’ children. Anyway, when it comes to my mom’s cooking, I cannot be fussy at all. I have to get through the meals even when she massacred my home-grown vegetables and boiled them and turned them into a bland mush.
Thankfully, I do get my opportunity to make a breakfast I want when it’s the day my mom would spend a few hours at the office. Simple as it is, I can be as fancy and fussy as I want when it comes to my home-cook meal.

Thanks for sharing your experience Yinglan. I do hope you get more opportunity of making your own food.
