How do you maintain your account security?
How careful you are regarding the security of your various accounts? Do you have any advice regarding account security?
I am very careful about things like my online security because one small thing can make me restless for at least a week.
A few years ago, someone hacked into my Facebook account and set up a payment account. Thankfully, I got a notification letting me of such thing. I was locked out of my account because the hacker changed the phone number I use to get into my account. Fortunately, my accounts always have a backdoor and I was able to get in there to stop a transaction from going through.
Another time was with my Paypal account. This one was worse than the Facebook because the hacker got some of my credit card information and I had to get new cards.
These days, all my passwords are encrypted and I must jump through at least 2 hoops to get in. It’s great when it works but sometimes, because the devices wouldn’t speak with one another, it would make me jump through the same hoops over and over like a circus performer until I want to chuck one of them at a wall.
I also have secondary authentication set up on my phone, so anytime I need to log into an account, I must approve it on my phone. So if my phone’s toast, I’m toast because I wouldn’t be able to get into any of my accounts. I wish I don’t have to set up such complex security measures but, hey, the more complex it is, the less likely the account will be hacked.
