Whew!!! Finally, a load off my chest.
After getting just three hours of sleep and a protein-rich breakfast (Hot Cocoa and scramble egg sandwich) , I can finally take a huge breath and say my telephone interview is done! I’ve been preparing for this day for weeks, reading out loud every night to practice my enunciation. It turned out every question was from those 6 essays questions I answered on the application. Why did my heart had to pound so hard?
All in all, how did I do? No idea, I think I stuttered through the whole thing. Even though I kept telling myself it’s just a telephone interview, it’s not like they can see you. At this point, it’s just another alternate route for me. If this doesn’t work, maybe me and Georgetown University are just not meant to be.
But now, I have to wait until mid-September to find out whether or not I made it to the next round. If I did, I have to go to Washington D.C. to take a exam testing my Chinese and English. This wait will be agonizing.
Meanwhile, my mom’s frequent morning calls home didn’t make me feel better. She just made me more nervous every time she tells me to be calm and composed. Don’t you know reverse psychology, mom?
Anyway, I thank the heaven for getting the planes to shut up during the 15 minutes of my interview. Everything’s gone quiet for a change. See, that’s the down side of living two miles from an air force base. You have F-16 jets flying over you every 5 seconds. It shakes the whole house and makes it impossible to sleep or concentrate.
This year just happens to be worse than the all the years we’ve been here. In the past, it usually let you sleep in but this year, all of the sudden, it flies from 5 am to 11 pm. Ridiculous, right? We’re not vampires! We need to sleep!
Then the weather makes it impossible to get some beauty sleep too. It’s either too cold or too hot. I open the window, it’s too hot. So I turn on the fan, it’s too cold. Then I lightly cover myself with a comforter, it’s too hot! That was exactly how I felt last night. There is no sensible solution. Either be hot or be cold and at 3 am, I just couldn’t take it anymore. So I woke up and began scribbling my post about the nomination for Liebster Award on my tablet which I eventually finished at about 6:30.
Oh, I feel like I’m about to cry or go mad! I need my sleep!
On another note,
because of my post about the Liebster Award, my daily traffic is now tied with the all time high!! I won’t say what it is because it’s too embarrassing. I just need one more view to break that record again. Overall, this has been a record setting week!!!
I reached a new all time high daily traffic on Sunday and so far, on each day of the week, the traffic had been high and consistent. Now, it’s only the middle of the day and my daily traffic is already tied with the high. I thank each of you loyal followers for following and visiting my blog and making this past week worth while and hopefully many more to come. 🙂
Thanks for listening,
Y. Zheng 🙂
