The Rhythm of Life

Once in a while, everyone needs a breather whether it’s from work, school, or just from the exhaustion of everyday chores. It is an important way for us to restore our energy and then get back out there and do it all over again. For me, it’s singing along to my stereo. However, sometimes I can’t do that despite how much I want to.

Like what happened last fall when my now former boss, The Li’s, moved into town. They offered me numerous jobs such as Mr. Li’s secretary (take care of his bills, mail), Mrs. Li’s chauffeur, Mrs. Li’s brother’s English tutor, and Mrs. Li’s son’s English tutor. It was exhausting work especially with school as well as a job at the school and this job happened to be beck and call.

Often times, they wouldn’t let me go home until 7 pm. I know it’s not that late but I had to get up at 5 am every morning to go to school. There’s no time at all for me to even breathe. Even on weekends, I still have to work sometimes.  I was exhausted, crabby, and my whole self just felt so out of tune.

Fortunately, there is one weekend each month when my mom goes to her monthly training and I have house-sit. On those weekends, I would abandon my homework, go down to the basement, turn on my stereo, and sing along to every tune on my USB drive. That is exactly what calms me down after a exhausted week. That is what gets me back to the rhythm of life again.
