A Simple Choice

If a literary-minded witch gave me a choice that at a flick of her wand, I would either become an obscure novelist whose work will be admired and studied by a select few for decades, or a popular paperback author whose books give pleasure to millions. I would most likely choose to be a popular paperback author. At least, people will understand the message I am trying to deliver in my books instead of searching over and over like some would search for non-existent treasure.

Of course, being someone whose work will be admired and studied for decades is good too but I rather have a lot of people read it than just a select few. Besides, I would not like my work to be treated like a lab rat.

Daily Prompt – A Bookish Choice

  1. Since most of what I feel like writing right now is for the benefit of my two daughters, I would like my work to be treated like a lab rat. I would want them to learn from my mistakes. Unfortunately, based on personal experiences, I don’t think that’s really how people learn, especially children. No matter what our parents try to tell us, we really learn by making our own mistakes. Do you agree?

    • Some people learn by reading some theory in a book while some learn by actually doing hands-on work. Yes, I quite agree with what you’re saying. We really learn by making mistakes.
