TGIF: I am achy and exhausted!

I think if you look at me now, I would probably look like the picture on the left. Not to complain but my back aches, so do my knees, legs, and heels. My arms don’t hurt but my fingers were full of pain about two hours ago. Now, I just have the usual wrist pain in my right wrist, probably from what people call the “mouse hand”.

Today though, I’ve been to a lot of places, compared to my usual route of school and home, the number of places (three) I’ve been to today is classified as a lot. This morning, after I filled up my car, I drove straight to school. When I arrived, I was about 40 minutes early. So I sat in a chair outside the classroom and attempted to revise the post I did this morning. Why do I need to revise it?

Because, to be honest, when I wrote the post this morning, I was doing it in a hurry. I didn’t think and I didn’t read it before posting it. My hands just flew all over the keyboard trying to write as fast I could before mom’s demands started flying in my direction. She’s off today and she’s doing this big cleaning spree around the house, trying to make everything perfect for my aunt and cousin’s arrival on Tuesday. At nine sharp, I stepped into my car feeling relieved.

Anyway, as I sat outside the classroom trying to revise the post, no luck. I spaced out. So I opened the word document that contains all my short stories and began rewriting the first one in the file which I’ve been trying to do in the last three weeks. I successfully rewrote the first few paragraphs but I still have a long way to go.

So yeah yeah yeah, classes went on and on. As soon as my second class ended, I bolted out the building toward the shuttle stop which a shuttle would take me back to my car and then I would get in and drive 30-some miles from Ogden to Salt Lake to pick up my paycheck. Finally, I get a tiny bit of income even though it’s not even close to enough to cover my tuition, it’s still something.

I made my 30-minutes journey to the Walmart just a couple streets away from my home. Recently, I finally got the permission from mom to buy three poster frames to frame my remaining three jigsaw puzzles (1500-pieces, 2000-pieces, and 2500-pieces). I was so excited! Afterwards, I was about to stop by UPS to make copies of my workbook but I decided not to since I didn’t know how it will turn out. So I just went to the bank and went home.

After two hours of careful and patient handiwork, all of my puzzles are now resting in frames. They look so gorgeous. I did them three years ago and they’ve been resting on a cardboard sheet for far too long. Also, I was afraid with my aunt and cousin coming, they might ruin my masterpieces. So I said it’s time.

Unfortunately, with my puzzles in frames, mom has asked me to get rid of the cardboard sheet. The thing is, she wants me to use an utility knife to cut the cardboard into tiny pieces and then put them in the garbage can. So I spent an hour crouched over the cardboard while running an utility knife through to cut it into tiny squares and rectangles.

I was exhausted then but apparently, mom wasn’t exhausted enough. After dinner, she dragged me downstairs to the basement to assist her in the installation of the shower rod. Even minutes ago, she still planned to have me trudge up and down the stairs. I was like “But I’m tired and my heels hurt.” That took me off the hook.

I think the biggest accomplishment for today was that I finally framed all my puzzles. 🙂 Now, I am both looking forward to tomorrow and dreading all the work I will be doing tomorrow and Sunday and Monday and Tuesday and so on. This is probably my last free weekend. 😦

  1. I didn’t know it had a name…mouse hand…:) I have it all the time! … I’ve been to Ogden, and Salt Lake City, many years ago. Such a beautiful part of the country. … Hope your aches and pains are better today! 🙂

  2. I feel ya! This week alone I have helped build a shelter and move 200 bales of hay. That used to be no problem but after years of a desk job I am tuckered. So snuggling with the pups this am is just what the doctor ordered.

  3. (1) I’m sure that picture does not accurately describe your physical condition. You’re too young to have boobs that hang down to your knees! I, on the other hand, am not. My grandma (aka Bubbie which is Grandma in Yiddish) told me about a physical exam she had where the doctor referred to that condition as “breasts: pendular”. Love that description!
    (2) I trained myself to switch mouse to left hand. It helps.
    (3) I know it’s hard when you live with her, but maybe you should try to learn to say no to mom, or at least to tell her you’ll do it later. That tactic doesn’t work well with my mom, who has a condition we call “instant-itis”. I hope your mom doesn’t have it, too!

    1. Oh, my mom is exactly like that. I can’t tell her I’ll do it later, that’s the queue for a fight. The same thing was like with my step-dad. His magical word was “Now”.

I have two computers now and they are side-by-side. So I have two mice. And so now, I have no choice but to use both hands 🙂 which sometimes it’s difficult because my left hand is not as coordinated as my right hand.

The picture however, I think except for the boobs hanging down part, that’s basically me. I am more or less crouching when I walk at the moment because of my sore back and you might as well wrap my knees in bandages because they hurt like hell. 😀
