Science is Definitely NOT My Friend

Today’s prompt asks: Which subject in school did you find impossible to master? Did math give you hives? Did English make you scream? Do tell!

I can never master science, I tell you. I guess that’s what made engineering so hard for me. Sure I can do the math but figuring out the formulas and the numbers to use, it’ll take me forever.

My first science class was in 6th grade, Earth Science, the study of the Earth’s core and everything about Earth. It was my worst subject other than P.E. of course. Then I had Life Science in 7th grade and for some reason, I didn’t have any problem with that. I understood just about everything. I thought it was probably because my English wasn’t proficient enough to understand such complicated subject as Earth Science. When I took Physical Science in 8th grade though, I encountered the same problem.

I just cannot understand why each problem is solve in that particular way. Sure, once the teacher explained it to me, it all made sense but when I got to the next problem, it was the same thing. When I got to high school, I found out once again I was only good at biology and not other kinds of science.

I didn’t figure out my problem until I got to college when I failed my first class, Chemistry. The problem is, I can’t understand things unless I see them happen in reality. That’s what made engineering so hard, I can picture a pavement cracking but I can’t picture this happening to a pavement.

I also cannot picture this happening to a beam either. It will either take a strongman or it will take many many years to see it happen.

I like math and number but this is just not the kind of thing I have in mind.
