It seems like we are always waiting for something, whether for the bus, people, or the perfect moment to snap a photo. At least for me, I’m usually the one waiting for the public transportation or someone to arrive and sometimes when I’m waiting, I get bored and will snap a picture.
Like this first picture. I took it in downtown Salt Lake last spring while waiting for the connecting train to a clinic about nine blocks away. I learned a while ago that driving in the downtown area of any city can be annoying and dangerous. The annoying part is the traffic lights. If I’m lucky, I can zoom through them but if I’m not, then I’ll be hitting the brakes every few seconds. So driving in downtown? No thanks.

This was taken at Mirror Lake a few weeks ago when I went there. I don’t know what the kid was doing with a net but he was running around the wetlands while I was trying to get a shot of the Bald Mountain in the background. I kept waiting for him to get out of my shot but got tired of waiting.

I wasn’t the one doing the waiting in this picture. I was the one trying to contain my vomit as we soared higher and higher in the world’s longest cable car in China. For those who don’t know, I have a minor fear of heights and being in a box with five other people dangling by a single cable isn’t exactly what I would call “fun”. My aunt was the one doing the waiting in this picture. If I remembered correctly, she was standing up in the car, holding her phone tight in her hands waiting for the car to ascend to a specific angle to snap this wonderful picture of the “Road with 99 twists”.

At least Salt Lake City has a pretty good Metro system…as long as you don’t need it on a holiday. A lot of American cities really don’t have much of anything at all.
I think I’d be holding my stomach too in that last picture, but more likely due to driving up that road!

Salt Lake does have a pretty good public transportation system in the city but outside, not so great and I happen to live outside of that area.
I would have loved to give that road in the last picture a test drive. I think I can handle it.

Great photos! I love good public transportation. We have a good busline here in Pirtland Oregon and the lightrail, kind of like a train.

Thank you. It’s similar here but only in the city. Once you’re out of the city, you either spend your time waiting for the bus or you drive.
