Share Your World – Week of September 11, 2017

Would you want $200,000 right now or $250,000 in a year? It’s safe to assume all money is tax free.

I would want the $250,000 in one year.

Here’s my logic: if I take $200,000 today, I would be able to pay off the entire $200,000 mortgage on my house but I wouldn’t have a cent left after that. On the other hand, in a year from now, not only I would have paid off some of that $200,000, I get an extra $50,000.

If you ask about the time value of money, I know all about that and I will still make the same decision.

I’m not in a hurry to spend the money or pay off my mortgage and a year in my world pass by in a blink of an eye. So I can wait 365 days to collect the extra $50,000. It’ll also give me time to decide where I want to go with $50,000.

Is it more important to love or be loved?

I think both are equally important because how can you love if you are not loved. In my opinion, it’s vice versa, you need to be loved to love.

List things that represent abundance to you.

I’m sure the word and the idea of “abundance” is different in everyone’s mind. In my mind, abundance does not necessarily mean having a lot of something.

I’m sure I’m just talking gibberish here. Abundance, in my world, is about fulfilling a person’s needs which can be having a place to live, having a bed to sleep in, a full stomach, having friends, having a job/income, someone to love or having someone love you, and feeling fulfilled in life. Having those things makes me feel like I have more than some people out there.

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

I visited my mom’s new workplace this past weekend which coincidentally is located behind Plum Alley, the earliest Chinatown in Utah. My mom wondered if it was fate drawing to work in this company because it turned out the earliest Chinese settlement came from Guangzhou, a city about 90 minutes from our hometown. Hmm…

I had long wanted to visit Plum Alley, ever since I saw a documentary on PBS on Salt Lake City and I used to pass it everyday on my way to the University of Utah, where I did my first undergraduate. Now I’ve visited this site, I’m becoming more interested than ever about the history of Salt Lake City and the different settlements in Utah. So that visit was inspiring.041514 sywbanner
