Share Your World – Week of October 16, 2017

If you had to move to a country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?

I would love to move to somewhere quiet, a place where life moves in a slower pace than the rest of the population. Like an island nation but which one? Hmm… I would pick… New Zealand or an island nation in the Caribbean.

I used to think life is moving at snail-speed when I went to school but now I’m working, life seems to be moving by at the speed of lightning.

What color would you like your bedroom to be?

If I have a bedroom of my choice, I would pick solid colors for the walls. Solid colors are much too boring and I would have difficulty of choosing the color that suited the room. So no color, instead, I want a giant mural to cover the walls of my bedroom.

What makes you Happy? Make a list of things in your life that bring you joy.

  • Sleep
  • Getting praised
  • Successfully accomplishing a difficult task
  • Knowing I did something right
  • Capturing a rare moment on camera
  • Taking, in my opinion, a perfect picture

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Last week, as I was sitting in front of the computer at work, a thought occurred to me. Why not make rolls this weekend?

I’ve been searching for frozen dinner rolls in the supermarket since August, walking row by row, gazing at the frozen goods, hoping I would suddenly spot the bags of frozen dinner rolls. Alas, no such luck.

It seemed as though the stores had made an overnight decision to stop carrying frozen dinner rolls. Oh well, just have to make my own.

And I did. I googled and found the recipe that inspired me to make these large rolls. It was so cool watching the yeast rise. It was like I was performing a science experiment. I was super excited when at last I took them out of the oven. I took one bite, so good. What a difference between frozen dinner rolls and making them from scratch!

  1. Those look awesome Yinglan! Great job. I guess we go to the supermarket bakery inside the grocery store, or a local bakery on the rare occasions we eat dinner roles. We have an Italian bakery by our house ( so delicious!) and inside a grocery store near us, Save On Foods, they have a wonderful bakery with various buns, breads, and delicious cakes for special occasions too 🙂 You seem like you’re doing well and I’m glad.

    1. Thank you. I’m not really into general bakeries. I’m more into specialty bakeries, like you mentioned an Italian bakery. There’s a Korean bakery near where I work which I ought to check it out one of these days.

Yeah, those buns were delicious. I put meats and stuff inside the buns to make them more hearty and less boring than eating plain old bread.
