#WeekendCoffeeShare: Bad Weather Week

Good Sunday morning and thank you for joining me for this lovely chat. I would tell you to breathe in a breath of air because it’s the freshest air in a week.

Last week, we were plagued with freezing fog flurries, bad air quality, and hazy and foggy skies. All of the result of a high pressure inversion which trapped the smog from cars and other pollution in the valley. It’s been like living in a bubble with a million other people, breathing in everybody’s dirty air. Yuck!

So anyway, what are you having for drink this morning? I think I’ll stick with my cup of tea.

How’s your week been? Anything exciting happen?

As I mentioned, I was trapped in bad air and cold. Not only that, I felt like I was trapped in a bad case of the Groundhog Day (the movie, not the holiday). Every day felt like the same – commuting to work at 45 mile/hr instead of the usual 70, had to drive in thick fog which caused poor visibility, super cold inside and out, and worst, my head seemed to hurt at exactly the same time each day.

However, all the bad air was swept away by the snow storm on Saturday. It brought cloudy skies and minimal snow but at least it cleaned out the bad air. Hopefully, now, I can go out for a run without my lungs hurting from the bad air.

Speaking of fitness, I lost 0.8 pounds but then my boss invited me to lunch which resulted in indigestion and the increase of 0.6 pounds. However, I did another weigh in yesterday and I lost 0.2 pounds. So it means I lost a total of 0.4 pounds. A little disappointed but it’s better than nothing.

The main problem this week was not that I ate too much, it’s that I didn’t do enough exercise. I made up all the exercise though by doing 60 minutes on the treadmill on Saturday and walking over 21,000 steps which is about 8 miles. Hopefully this will help.

Work had been extremely busy since I’m still trying to catch up from the days the office was shut down due to violation of the fire safety code. However, I’d somehow managed to catch up on Friday. I thank God for this miracle.

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would thank you for joining me and hopefully we both can be here again next weekend and perhaps then, I might be a little skinnier.

  1. The smog being trapped on the air doesn’t sound healthy and it’s the only time I’d say a snow storm is good — so people can breathe clean air. I’m sure your headache was related to the smog or air pressure.

You are doing so awesome with your fit bit and most people’s body’s (women’s especially) can fluctuate a few pounds a day. So, what’s key is to weigh yourself at the same time each day after you’ve peed (this is was I was told on the diet I follow and it’s pretty accurate.) So for instance, if you can weigh yourself every morning at home at 7:45 am before you go to work that’s a more accurate way to measure. Plus only do it once or twice a week b/c your body fluctuates so much, that those little daily changes can be depressing but don’t mean much . So if you are the same every Tuesday at 7:45 am that’s most accurate. And then you only worry if you’ve gained 3 plus pounds the following week and than watch yourveating or exercise more. Other than that, no worries. You’re doing great. I hope u can run now that the air is clear. I’m so thrilled you can do that and jealous lol. Hope you have a great Christmas!

    1. I agree, it’s the only time a snow storm is a good thing and yes, my headache was definitely related to the inversion because it snowed and I felt so much better.

That’s what I found out too after I bought the watch. I’m supposed to weigh myself every other day at around the same time and that’s what I’ve been doing. Maybe that’s too many times per week.

I hope I can run now too since the air has been cleared. I may test it out tomorrow at work.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. 🙂

      1. Thanks Yinglan. I think when trying to lose weight not weighing yourself more than twice a week is best. I have tried doing it every day or second but then it’s to easy to get caught up on little changes that don’t mean much. It’s up to you though and what I feel works best for you.
Cheers and crossing my fingers for good running weather! 🍷🎄💕

      2. I tried weighing myself once a week that first week after I got the watch but I was too anxious to see result. So I weigh myself more frequently but I agree, it’s so easy to get caught up on the little changes. I remember feeling a little down when I discovered I gain 0.2 pound. I was like how did that happen?
Anyway, I’m crossing my fingers for tomorrow because I really need the run after overeating this weekend.

  2. I also have had problems getting in enough exercise…but it’s more being distracted by other activities than by the bad air. Our air is just coolish. That’s scheduled to change on Christmas day. Frigid! The exercise bike in the gazebo may not see me between then and the February thaw. 😀 Good luck with the weight loss! I am having to lose weight, and it seems to come in between longer and longer plateaus. But it comes eventually when sticking to the plan.
