2017 Reflection Part 1

As I look back on the posts I’ve written in 2017, I realized I never made a New Year resolution for 2017 but I think if I had, it would had been the same as the 2016, 2015, and so on. Every year, my New Year resolution had been the same – to get back to my normal weight range – and every year, I’ve failed.

Last night, I googled my normal weight range and received great news. After losing eight pounds, I am officially no longer overweight! You cannot believe how proud and happy I am at this moment. I have more or less given up over the years because I believed it was my health problems resulting in my inability to lose weight but my health problems were gone by the beginning of 2017. Therefore, this was more or less the final try for me.

So that was my biggest accomplishment of 2017.

2017 has been the year for most travels. I spent 2017’s first three and a half months in China, reuniting with relatives I have not seen in over fifteen years while traveling to exciting new places. Here are some of my favorite landscape photos from China.

Aside from landscapes, I also took a lot of macros, which is my favorite way to capture something in a photo.

Aside from China, I also traveled to many other amazing places in 2017 include Canada, South Dakota, Yellowstone, etc. Actually, I was planning on going to Japan but the trip was cancelled after I discovered no matter how I tried to book the sleeping accommodations, my budget always ended up maxing out. Japan was just too expensive. Oh well, perhaps I will try again one day. Anyway, here are my favorite photos from my road trip in May 2017.

Here are some interesting animal encounters along the road.

To be continued in part 2!

  1. Congrats!! The first part of your post, about your goal to lose weight reminds me of a conversation with my brother last year on New Year’s Eve… He complained about being too fat and not being able to get thinner no matter how much he exercised… (btw, he looks just fine :P) And I ended telling him that he could always grow an inch or two taller… and that’d take care of the problem… LOL

  2. Yinglan, wishing you a Happy New Year 2018. Im so proud of you for achieving your weight loss goes as being so tiny (like my Mom as well) a Little weightloss goes along way. It’s a goal I continue to struggle with too and hate that there is so much good food around during the holidays. But congrats, you seem happier since you’v started with this and I think theendirphins from exercise and eating the right food are very helpful as well.

Also, as I’ve said before, you’re such a gifted photographer and your pictures are gorgeous in China and the ones you took up close and in my home country. If you ever return to the area, I’d love to meet up with you. Edmonton, AB, is a beautiful city with many festivals, a giant shopping mall (4th largest in the world), a football team and stadium, and a huge arena for hockey and concerts. It’s also about 2 hours drive to Jasper and a bit closer to Banff.

Cheers to you, enjoy New Years Eve!
