Good Saturday morning! Thank you for joining me. Let’s get some drinks! I am loving this banana yogurt veggie smoothies. I tried it at the beginning of the week and still loving it.
What would you like? Coffee, tea, or shall I whip you up a smoothie too? I can make so many combinations of smoothies now, my everyday breakfast is never the same. I made a spicy smoothie (with ginger) yesterday, so good.
How’s your week been? Anything interesting happened?
Me? My week went by fast. I guess that’s what happens when I’m not working.
This is the first time ever I have nothing to do. No work, no school. I have been going to school since age 5 and began working and going to school (at the same time) since 2012 except 2017. I was even working during my 4-month stay in China last year. So can you tell why I’m still having a little problem adjusting? I have been so busy my whole life that I don’t know how to un-busy myself for a change.
Anyway, I spent the week looking for regular and freelance jobs. I applied for a few but got rejected. It was funny. I applied for a job and got rejected the very same day. Then the HR of that company called me on Wednesday and asked me to interview. I was like, “Didn’t you already send my resume to the trash?” This was my third time applying for this company. Maybe third time’s the charm.
Another company also asked me to set up a telephone interview. The email specifically told me to reply to this specific email address but it’s been four days and Google is still telling me the email hasn’t gone through. What are these companies playing at?
In between searching for employment, I went on Meetup and searched for clubs because staying at home is getting me down. I needed something to take my mind off of this rut I’ve caught myself in.
I signed up for two Meetups and attending the meetings. In one of those meetings, I found myself in a room full of people either has a business or starting a business. Everyone wanted to help one another succeed in his or her business. In that meeting, I met a lady who was eager to help me. We’ve set up a time to talk next week. This can be the start of something great. I can feel it. Maybe my luck’s turning.
In my other meetup, my primary goal was to get over my writer’s block. Ever since I started working for that Chinese Company, I had been having a hard time writing speeches for Toastmasters and fiction stories longer than 150 words. In 2017, I’ve written zero long fictions. I believe that’s the result of not utilizing my English enough. I’m hoping by going to this Writing meetup each week, I will be able to write again.
If we were having drinks, I would thank you for joining me this weekend. Before we say goodbye and until next weekend, I would like to show you some of the pictures from my trip to Bryce Canyon last weekend.

Wow! Thanks for sharing the awesome pictures. Here, this week, we had ice. Very picturesque in sunlight, but not so pleasant for driving. Glad to hear your meetups went well. Will pray for the right job to find you soon. Have a great week!

Whoa, ice, that’s not a good condition to be driving in. Thank you for reading. Have a great week. 🙂

Yinglan, sorry to hear of your difficulties finding work and adjusting to the new circumstances. Time and routine helps here. Your photos of Bruce Canyon would make a great photo for my Monday Mystery photo feature of my blog, if you would like to contribute one, or more. I feature the photo for two weeks, credit you as the photographer, and link back to your blog. Let me know if you want to do this.

A smoothy actually sounds delicious. I often put yogurt in mine, but the rest of the family isn’t to keen on that, as well as a bit of ground flax-seed. Instant oatmeal is also good I understand… Tried it a couple tiems and it wasn’t bad at all (just as long as you don’t put too much in).

I like yogurt in mine too. It makes the smoothie so creamy. Never tried instant oatmeal in smoothie though. I don’t do instant oatmeal anymore after finding out that stuff is super processed. I stick with old fashioned oats.

I should have clarified…. By instant I was thinking more of old fashion “minute” oatmeal (I think that’s what it’s called). We don’t often use actual packaged instant oatmeal due to the high sugar content.

Wow! The Meetup sounds really positive. A coffee smoothie sounds really good, too. I hope the next Meetup or the appointment gets you further in advancing toward your goal. Have a great week!

It does sound positive and it gives me hope too. I hope the next Meetup will be just as helpful. Have a great week. 🙂

Hi Yinglan,
Thanks for the coffee. I know what you mean about looking for a job. I have decided I need paid work this year, now that my daughter is in High School and I figured was becoming more independent. However, she’s gone backwards before going forwards and refuses to catch the bus and so I’m having to drive her and pick her up. This has been great in terms of spending time together and I’m meeting her new friends and feeling a part of her life, which is pretty exceptional for teenagers but I also want to relaunch my own life soon. I keep telling myself to be patient. It will come and then I’ll complain about being shut out.
Not easy trying to get a new job, but it sounds like you need a time of stillness to find out what it’s like not to be busy. Stop and smell the roses. Good luck.
Hope you have a good week.
xx Rowena

I think your daughter wanting to spend time with you is a good thing because I’m positive there will come the time when a daughter wants to leave and be on her own. And I think you’re right, I just need some time to find out what’s like to not be busy for a change. Thank you for joining me for coffee and have a great week.

Your photos of Bryce are fabulous. Thank you. May you continue to embrace this in between time. Life is long and it is a gift to have some space between the business sometimes. All my best to you.
