#WeekendCoffeeShare: One Last Fling

Good Sunday morning! Welcome to #weekendcoffeeshare! Come on in from the cold and I’ll serve you a cup of hot beverage and perhaps one of my homemade chocolate chip cookies?

Can you believe it’s March already?

I know, right? February flew right by and frankly, this February had been one of the boring months. The weather was gray, gloomy, snowy, and rainy and there was hardly any places to go on weekends and when there’s somewhere I want to go, it’d start snowing.

At this time last year, I had already hiked twice. I thought the groundhog predicted spring will be on time this year, so how come it’s so cold?

Actually, I can go hiking. I just need to buy a pair of snowshoe to help me trudge through the feet of snow.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you this will likely be my last weekend alone. One final fling, as some would call it.

Four members of my mom’s family will be arriving tomorrow (Monday) and will be coming to stay permanently. I have been dreading this and losing sleep over this. Even though they will be moving to the house next door ASAP, I have no doubt they will be frequent visitors to my humble abode asking for my help.

In fact, my uncle had suddenly started sending messages to me yesterday, asking me to check his bank balance for him. It’s the same uncle who sent a message one year earlier telling (felt more like a warning) me to keep his bank card safe and not spend any of his money, as if I can withdraw money from his bank. His message pissed me off and so is them coming here.

I’m sorry but I don’t like to be treated like crap when I’m not needed and treated like the most important person in world when someone wants something from me. I’m a person and I can’t be bought with money. EVER!

There, I got that out of my system.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I hope to go somewhere today. I have a place in mind but I’m not sure about the weather. I hope it will cooperate. The place is about 30 miles away and I’m not sure what I’ll see there but I’m sure curious. It’s a bird refuge and it said on the website I can see bald eagles around March. So crossing my fingers.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I have been reading the paperbacks I bought last year. In the last month, I managed to finish two – Thinner by Stephen King and True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. I enjoyed both of these books, both books are slightly out of my favorite genre – thriller – but it’s a welcoming change sometimes and I do love a sappy love story once in a while.

Lastly, if we were having coffee, I would show you a photo I took on early Friday morning. This is a 1-second exposure of two birds perched on top of a tree during the golden hour.

Finally, if we were having coffee, I would thank you for joining me today and hope to see you back here in a week.

  1. Pretty picture. I know what you mean about the weather – every weekend has made it impossible to go anywhere outside because it’s too cold or snowy or rainy. I’m hoping that changes soon. It won’t be today, though — we’re expecting 6 inches of snow later. *sigh * Sorry about your family troubles. I can relate. I have demanding relatives, too. It sucks. Hang in there!

  2. Dealing with family is always a touchy issue.I hope things go smoother than you think. I do hope you get to go on your excursion today! I hope to only go to the gym and probably to the store to make potato soup today. It is chilly here too.
I enjoyed our chat today and your cookies! thanks for sharing

  3. I t is hard believe that daylight time begins next week. Good luck with your family. It is cold here but sunny. The mountains got snow and Idaho roads see bad. In some area there is flooding and there is a record snow pack.

    1. I can already see it being a difficult week next week with the time springing forward. I’m glad it’s sunny where you are. I’ll take that over a cloudy any day even if it’s a bit cold.

  4. Hi YingLan, I agree with Tara – that is a neat photo. Magic tends to happen during the golden hour. I’m glad your family is not moving in with you. At least there will be a front door between you and their lack of respect and immaturity. Be strong and be the adult. Family is family..

    1. Thank you. This is the first photo I have been able to take in about two weeks. It was the first day in a while since the sky was clear. It’s great to see a clear sky. The gloomy sky was making me feel blue. Thank you for visiting. 🙂
