How are you on this Monday morning? Are you like me? Suffering from the Monday-after-Daylight-Saving? If you’re like me, I sympathize and here, have an extra-large mug of coffee, perhaps with an extra shot of caffeine while I welcome you to another edition of #WeekendCoffeeShare.
I would also tell you there’s another reason for me to need an extra-large mug of coffee. My family arrived last Monday and since then, I hadn’t stopped worrying, worrying my cousin might wreck my house while I’m at work because he’s an incredible careless person.
Oh no, not the cousin that went back to China because his grandpa passed away. I’m talking about my youngest cousin. He seemed to have this idea that because he made big money in China, he could treat everyone else like crap.
And was I right!
I now have deep scratches cemented on the side of my kitchen counter, a few of the door hinges had come loose, and my dryer’s lint trap was absolutely disgusting when I pulled it out over the weekend. All caused by he and his parents’ careless usage.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’m praying and counting down to the day (I hope by this Friday) when they move to the house next door. It’s not as far as I wanted but at least I’ll have them out of my house before they officially destroy my house or have my house burglarized due to them not locking the doors when they go out. I think mostly, it’ll soothe my anxiety, even just a little bit.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I decided to get a DNA kit from AncestryDNA to see if I’m really as Asian as the rest of my family. I can’t put a finger on it but ever since I was very young, I felt like I didn’t belong in China. I felt out of place. My skin is a few shades lighter than the rest of my family and the strands of my hair are thinner too. So I began to wonder, can there be something mixed in me?
I wanted to do this DNA a few years now but kept putting it off until now, I just had to know, you know?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I got to sneak out on a little trip on Saturday and I chose to go to the Kaysville Ponds again. This is getting to be my favorite place as it seems to change with the seasons. Here are some of my favorite pictures from that day:
Finally, if we were having coffee, I would thank you for joining me today and hope to see you back here in a week.
Horrible feeling, walking out the door at 7 am and it pitch dark!😛

Hi Yinglan. Sigh – I’m so sorry your family is such a nightmare. I’ll never understand this degree of disrespect for another person, especially a family member. I think I’d be planning, not looking for, a way to move out and put a safe distance between you and them. It will always be right to honor your family in ways that don’t expose you to constant threat and abuse – but your family is off the scale in my experience. Family should protect one another – not whatever they’re doing.
Oh – and Kaysville ponds look like a dream world. Maybe there’s room for you there? hmmmm.
Blessings.
