Share Your World – Week of March 22, 2021

If not now, then when?

My personal answer: who knows?

The answer often given at my work: The year 2025 and when it’s 2025, 2030.

Can you describe your life in a six-word sentence?

I am an always-looking-for-the-bright-side kind of person.

Do you remember that thing people used to say, about how you swallow eight spiders a year while you sleep? It’s not true, but do you think you’ve ever swallowed any? What bug do you think you’ve eaten the most of by accident?

Ew, that’s gross and absolutely false. Thinking about bugs makes me feel like I got creepy crawlies up my skin and this is coming from someone who grew up in Canton China. For the record, I have eaten zero bugs (not even in my sleep) and zero cats and dogs.

What’s the best approach to resolving conflict?

As a non-violence person, I think the best approach to resolve a conflict is to have a third-party conduct a table discussion where everybody can just talk it out.

Sigh, unfortunately most of the time, that’s not how reality works unless there’s a lawyer or a boss-figure acting as the mediator.

I created this comic for one of my undergrad classes once upon a time and I like this approach to conflict resolution.

  1. Thank you Yinglan for Sharing Your World! That bug-eating question was creepy indeed! I’m very happy to hear that we DON’T eat eight spiders a year, that freaks me out! You are a very talented artist, may I say! That cartoon strip was AMAZING! ❤ It is a good way to resolve conflict if one can find an unbiased person to mediate! Have a wonderful week!
