Friday Fictioneers: What’s in the Trees

Her scream could be heard from the dormitory. “What’s going on?” A few  students asked as they gathered behind her.

Before them laid the school’s oldest trees, its roots dangling midair as if the trees were yanked out by a violent force. 

“What is going on!” A stern, annoyed voice shouted and immediately, everyone made way for Principal Stevens. “What are y’all looking at?” With a shaking hand, she pointed at the trees, among its roots were at least a dozen rotting corpses, cocooned like a mummy. “Oh. My. Gah!” Principal Stevens vomited on the spot. “Someone call the cops!”
