Friday Fictioneers: Unfinished Business

Susan watches the rickety old chair from her breakfast nook. To untrained eyes, it’ll appear she’s staring at an empty chair but Susan is a naturally-born psychic with the ability to see the dearly-departed. Right now, sitting in that chair is none other than her dearly-departed father, who’s been there since that night.

Wrapping a shawl around herself, Susan ventures out to the backyard. “Daddy?” She says.

The ghostly old man looks up. “Susan.”

“Why haven’t you move on?”

The old man sighs, “I don’t know, Susan. I guess it’s true what they say, folks with unfinished business stay put.”
