Sunday Poser #104 – Re-Sharing Old Posts

How often do you re-share your older posts?

I used to re-share my older posts often because of the reason Sadje mentioned in her post:

Unless you are a celebrity, it is very likely that when you started to blog, very few people read or saw your posts.

After blogging for almost a decade, you’d think it’s time to repost some of the older posts to let some fresh eyes read what was written years ago. Honestly, I can’t bring myself to do it because in my perfectionist mind, in order to repost something, it must be edited. I don’t know why I think that. Perhaps my writing wasn’t as good then or maybe I wasn’t as wise as now? Who knows what the reason was.

Nowadays, I still re-share my older posts from time-to-time by linking with a current post when it’s related to a topic I’m writing about. For example, I re-shared a 2014 post a few weeks ago on Sunday Poser #101 as the post was relevant to the topic. I feel links work best as I’m not subjecting anyone to read the post, it’s merely a suggestion, don’t you think so?

  1. Ha Ha!The things we think about. When I started writing it was not for any real purpose except to offer history for my grandchildren. Then I thought writing could help others. Then it became a thing I did every day. I have forgotten what I wrote about and am often tempted to go back and look, but that editing thing is always there. I don’t think we need to apologize for editing. We can put edits in another colour. I think if we have changed our mind it might be useful for whomsoever may come by later, maybe techie archeologists will find our notes in the ether and be delighted to know about your garden and my preoccupation with Dodger, the dog and my children. The Bible tells us that our every thought word and deed is recorded and one day “the books will be opened,” and since it was God’s books that caught my breath away from being cynical and unbelieving, I am hopeful that my records will stand up to scrutiny.
I love our community here, but I don’t always have time to read it all. But maybe we should risk it. Pick one random post and repost it, without edits and see what happens.
