1. If you have been given a variety of gifts, do you have a clear out of older stuff to make room for it?
I haven’t been given a variety of gifts for a long time, not since 2006, when my mother was still married to my step-father and I had loving step-grandparents. Nowadays, I probably only get one present per year and that’s at the white-elephant gift exchange during the work Christmas party. No, I don’t recall I ever had to clear out any older stuff to make room for gifts.
2. Do you overindulge with food for special occasions and then come to regret it with either weight gain, guilt or severe indigestion?
Yes, unfortunately I do. I think I most definitely overindulged on Christmas night when we had hotpot at my aunt’s. I think I did well though because in the past, I would probably overdo it by a lot but this year, I only overdid it by a little bit. I ended up gaining about 0.5 pounds after that meal.
It’s very easy to overdo it with hotpot. If you don’t know what hotpot is, it’s basically like fondue without the cheese. We choose what we eat, put it in a slotted spoon, and cook it in the pot in the center. I find I had to frequently check-in and assess my feeling before continuing and that takes practice like meditation.

3. What is your favorite part for any celebration?
My favorite part of any celebration is always the food because it’s a break in the monotony of food I eat everyday.
4. Are you looking forward to getting bargains in the January Sales?
There are sales in January? I’m not aware of any and unless those bargains involve discounted gardening and electronic products, I won’t be looking forward to those. I know there are day-after-Christmas sales. I actually took a stroll at Walmart yesterday on Boxing Day. This year feel especially subdued as sales goes. All Christmas decorations were at half-price.
I ended up buying a couple rolls of gift wrapping paper. I wanted to get some new lights but knowing myself, I’d probably be too lazy to put it up because I dislike doing anything outside when it’s so cold.
The hotpot method looks interesting.

I think everybody and everywhere have their own variations of hotpots. 😊

Over here we don’t. But doing it yourself is a good way to involve everyone in the process

Thanks for joining in. I am so sorry about your Christmases. Hot pot here is like a casserole of leftovers.

It’s all good. I think not getting presents makes me feel more content sometimes because with no presents, there are no expectations.
