Tuesday Thoughts

First, I’d like to apologize if I seemed a bit absent the last few days.

The time difference had been kicking my ass. I don’t know if you have ever experienced something called “Double night-time phenomenon”. It’s not a technical term but I’m calling it that.

Basically, around 2 or 3 PM, as the UK is approaching midnight, I’m suddenly very sleepy. Against my better judgment, I’ve been lying down for a quick nap on the couch.

Then around 9 PM (about 6 or 7 hours later), when it’s night-time here, I would be sleepy again. It’s crazy, just how many hours of sleep does a person need?!

Since I’ve been home, I haven’t been doing much gardening, mostly just harvesting, trying to clear out a few places to allow other vegetables the space to grow. The only thing I’ve been able to plant were the cantaloupes, watermelons, and a few more tomato plants and they were all planted with power tools.

It’s the tiredness that’s getting to me. I have zero energy other than the few moments between waking up and breakfast. I’ve been using those precious moments to replenish energy and get to harvesting the vegetables for that night’s dinner.

Mom is now telling me she doesn’t like vegetables. Wait, the vegetables I grow or vegetables in general? She refused to answer.

The fridge has mostly been empty since we got back and we haven’t need much groceries, not with the abundance of vegetables desperate to be picked in the garden. Each day the temperature goes beyond 80-degrees-Fahrenheit is another day to risk the vegetables going to seed. Fortunately, most of the vegetables, with the exceptions of spinach and a few others, haven’t gone to seed yet. Whew…

  1. Jet lag is pretty normal. I hope you had a good trip. Your poor mom should read Cindy Georgakas’ book and do the exercises- name 6 things every night she’s grateful for is one of them.
