Friday Fictioneers: Incriminating Evidence

Please Note: this is 100% fiction!

Adjusting my blond wig, sunglasses, and sunhat, I checked my lips in the makeup mirror. Perfectly red. “Excuse me,” a voice said, startling me. I looked up to see a man in a slightly-wrinkled gray suit. “Are you Mrs. Morwena Cartwright?”

“Depends on who’s asking.”

“I am PI James’s uh-assistant and I was instructed to hand this directly to you.” He handed over a rather-thin envelope, not what I was expecting. Immediately, I tore open the envelope, hoping for incriminating evidence to prove my son-of-a-bitch cheating husband was indeed cheating but instead, it was empty.

“What the hell is this?”
